
CIBC - VR Experience
This immersive VR experience provided guests with an adventure on Machu Picchu, Africa, and Mars!
For this experience I was the main developer with a focus on blueprints gameplay and logic, scene flow (sequencer fade ins, fade outs. narration), metrics, and VR scene optimization!
While working at Astound Group as a Creative Technologist, I had the opportunity to work on and deploy a VR experience built in Unreal Engine 5.3 for the CIBC Experience Center in Yorkdale!
As one of the developers on this project I was tasked with creating gameplay interactions, narrator triggers, puzzles, movement systems and more with VR through blueprints!
One of the biggest challenges with this project was the optimization. There was a bit of a struggle trying to improve the frame rate in the early stages of the project and had to use a lot of debloating and optimization of the project. I learned a lot by playing around with different techniques and using the Profiling tools to improve our project including better loading time using World Partition, nanite vs lumen, UX/UI practices for VR, HLOD, etc.. A Metrics System were also implemented in order to track destination choice, level completion, and interaction engagement from the user.
