Welcome to my Portfolio!
Hey there! I'm a Unity and Unreal Engine Game Developer with over 6 years of experience specializing in C# Unity Development and Unreal Engines blueprints!
I'm open to any Work available!
Below are some of the projects I've worked on!
PROJECTS

The Inn
Horror - Free to Play
The Inn is a project I worked on with a group of fellow students as a programmer and UI programmer.
I programmed UI interaction in Main Menu and in game, implemented sound, music and triggers for audio/Jump scares.
Implemented and fixed bugs on interactable objects and UI
Programmed various aspects of gameplay including player interaction with world environment.
Programmed item checks for player and inventory in order to progress the story.
Created Concept art and art for UI to foster the game's black and white feel. I was primarily tasked with implementing the UI, programming various movement, animations and UI related assets.
Managed playtests and player found bugs as well as troubleshooting.

Office-Runz
An office themed Endless Runner
I worked as a Gameplay Programmer, Designer, and C# Developer on a game called Office-Runz, which is an endless runner game. My responsibilities included designing and developing levels, implementing game logic, setting up the game loop, and designing the user interface using assets imported from the Unity asset store.
One of the key features that I worked on was the implementation of procedurally generated levels. I programmed the logic that would generate levels that would progressively increase in difficulty and update their look as the player progressed through the game.
In addition to level design, I also programmed the logic for player movement, camera movement, smooth camera movement, and item collection. These features were essential for creating a fun and engaging gameplay experience.
Finally, I made sure that the game was playable on Android devices by exporting it as an APK file.

Burnt Out
Capstone project -Vertical Slice
I worked as a 3D Modeller & Animator and C# Developer on a puzzle narrative game called Burnt Out. My responsibilities included creating the 3D main character model, rigging and animating it for gameplay, as well as designing the 3D environment using Unity's ProBuilder and Snaps plug-in.
In addition to 3D modelling and animation, I was also responsible for creating concept art for level and world design, and designing in-game puzzles. I programmed the logic for the puzzles and the interaction between the player and the world environment. This was crucial for creating challenging and engaging gameplay.
Furthermore, I implemented animation and blend tree between different character animations and movements to make the character movements smooth and realistic.
As part of my role, I also created the narrative design and world building behind the game. This involved creating a cohesive story and backstory for the game world that would draw the player in and keep them engaged. Overall, my work on Burnt Out involved a combination of 3D modelling, animation, puzzle design, and narrative development.

Canis Minor
A space themed co-op Game Jam game
Canis Minor is a 2D co-op platformer game that was created during a GameJam in October 2021. The game's narrative revolves around two astronauts who are stranded in space after an asteroid collides with their ship, causing them to drift apart.
The game is designed to be played in co-op mode, where players have to work together to navigate through space debris and reunite the lost astronauts.
As a User Interface Designer and C# Developer, I worked with fellow classmates to develop the game within a tight timeframe of seven days.
My responsibilities included implementing audio in code, adding sound effects and background music, and providing players with the ability to control different aspects of the game's audio.
I also programmed interactive UI selections that enabled players to start and quit the game simultaneously, as well as open and change the game's settings using buttons and sliders.

2D RPG Prototype
Top Down Hack'n'Slash Demo
For this project I'm working in a Group as a programmer for the enemy AI.
The sprites were created by our artist, my main goal was to complete the logic, movement, attack and player interaction between the enemies.
This WIP demo consists of 3 enemies of various types, a slow ball enemy, a ranged attacking Enemy and a Large but powerful enemy.
My focus for this project was to create a scalable state machine for the enemy that can be used for different types of enemies while keeping the logic reusable. I turned the already made sprite sheets into the individual movement animations for each enemy and set each enemy up with an animation controller.
On spawn, the enemies start in "Follow" state to run towards the player until the player is in an attack detection range. Once in range, the enemy will change from its "follow" state to its "attack" state. Once the player is out of range, or the attack ends, the enemy will return back to it's "follow" state in order to get close to the player again.

About Me
Hey there!
My name is Taurean Rodney (pronounced like 'Korean' but with a 'T' instead of a 'K') and I've been obsessed with video games and tech for as long as I can remember, so it only makes sense that I developed this passion for Game Development!
I graduated from Centennial College's Game Development and Design program and now currently am a Developer based in Toronto.
I aspire to continuously look for new ways to challenge myself while making fun and lasting games. Making a project with easily comprehensible and expandable code is always my goal. Besides developing games, I often spend most of my time programming, drawing, playing with my dog and of course, playing video games!
(what better way to study, am I right?)
